Overview
This policy explains what stays on your device, what limited usage data we process, and the choices you have. You can use the mixer without an account.
What we collect
On your device
Your saved mixes and their names, settings, favorites and session state are saved in your browser. They are never sent with our analytics. If you back up or export, your browser saves a file for you; we do not upload it.
Mobile apps
The mobile apps save mixes, names, favorites, settings and downloaded sounds on your device. They contain no analytics or advertising tools. If you share a mix, its sounds, levels and name go into a link for the app you choose; your other saved mixes are not uploaded.
Recorded sounds stream or download from ambientnoise.io. Our website analytics do not count these requests, but our hosting provider sees standard request information, as described below. Built-in noise sounds play without downloading anything.
Analytics
We count page visits and a short, fixed list of events, such as a sound starting, a sound playing for a minute, or why playback stopped. Events carry only rough details, such as where on the site a sound started or a range like “played 10–60 minutes”. They never include an identifier, search text, mix names, audio or the sounds in your mix.
To count listening devices each week and month without an ID, your browser keeps one small record: the day you first played something here, where that play started, and the last week and month already counted. It holds no identifier and never leaves your browser; events report only rough ranges based on it. Clearing site data removes it. Players embedded on other sites don't keep it.
No account
We do not ask for your name, email address, payment details or an account.
Cookies
AmbientNoise.io sets no advertising or analytics cookies. The features above use browser storage, which is not a cookie and is not sent with web requests.
Who we share it with
Our hosting provider runs the site, delivers its files (including the audio the mobile apps play), protects it from abusive traffic and provides our analytics. It processes your IP address and works out an approximate city and country from it. This is not your device's GPS or location permission.
The hosting provider decides how it uses some of this security and operational data, under its own terms. We do not use audio requests for targeted advertising or combine them with data from other companies.
Support emails
If you email hello@ambientnoise.io, support@ambientnoise.io or privacy@ambientnoise.io, an email service processes your address, message and any attachments and passes them to our support inbox so we can reply. This happens only when you contact us, and it never uploads your mixes, settings or audio.
How long we keep it
Data on your device stays until you clear it. The hosting provider keeps its request records under its own policy, so we cannot promise a fixed deletion date for them. Clearing saved mixes or downloaded sounds removes data on your device only.
Security
Generated sounds, mixing and recordings are processed in your browser, and we never upload your mix or audio. We keep analytics to the short list above, but no online service is completely secure.
Children
The service is not aimed at children and never asks for an account, name, email address or date of birth. A parent or guardian should supervise a child's use and keep the volume low and comfortable.
Changes
If we make significant changes to this policy, we will post a notice on the site.
