Overview
This policy explains what stays on your device, what limited usage data is processed, and the choices available to you. You can use the mixer without an account.
Information We Collect
Local Storage
Custom presets, saved mixes and their names, settings, favorites, focus notes, and session state are stored in your browser using localStorage. The app does not send those values to its analytics events. If you use backup or export, your browser creates a file for you to save; the app does not upload that file.
Mobile Apps
The iOS and Android apps save mixes, names, favorites, settings, and downloaded sounds on your device. They do not include an analytics or advertising SDK. When you choose to share a mix, its sounds, levels, and name are included in a link passed to the app you select. Sharing does not upload your saved-mix collection.
Recorded sounds stream or download over HTTPS from ambientnoise.io. These direct audio requests do not run the website analytics described below, but they expose network request information to the hosting provider as explained under Third-Party Services. Built-in noise sounds can play without downloading recorded sounds.
Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to measure page visits and a small allowlist of fixed product events. Event properties are coarse, such as the interface source, a category, or a sound count. They are designed not to include search text, mix names, focus notes, audio, or the contents of local storage. AmbientNoise.io does not set advertising or analytics cookies.
No Account Profile
We do not ask for a name, email address, payment information, or account profile to use the service. Technical request data processed by the host is described below.
Cookies
AmbientNoise.io does not set advertising or analytics cookies. The app uses browser storage for the local features described above; localStorage is not a cookie and is not automatically sent with web requests.
Third-Party Services
Vercel hosts the site, delivers its assets, protects the service, and provides Web Analytics. This includes audio files streamed or downloaded by the mobile apps. Vercel processes IP addresses and derives approximate city and country information from them to provide and protect its services. This is network-derived location, not access to your device's GPS or location permission. Vercel also processes request information for security, including protection against abusive traffic. This processing is not limited to information held only while a single download completes. Vercel's processing is governed by its privacy policy.
For personal operational data generated by use of its services, Vercel acts as an independent data controller under its Data Processing Addendum. This means Vercel determines how that data is processed, rather than acting only on our instructions. Disclosure of this hosting and security data is distinct from advertising tracking: AmbientNoise does not use native audio requests for targeted advertising or combine them with activity from other companies for ad targeting.
Hosting data is retained according to Vercel's published privacy policy; we do not promise a fixed deletion period for its security records. Clearing saved mixes or downloaded sounds removes local data, not the hosting provider's request records.
Support Emails
If you email hello@ambientnoise.io, support@ambientnoise.io or privacy@ambientnoise.io, Resend processes your sender address, message and any attachments, then forwards them to our support inbox so we can respond. This happens only when you choose to contact us; it does not upload your locally stored mixes, settings or audio.
Data Security
Generated audio, mixing, and recordings are processed in your browser. Sample-backed sounds are delivered as audio files after a relevant user action; the app does not upload your mix output or captured audio. We limit analytics event fields to the coarse allowlist described above, but no internet service can promise zero security risk.
Children's Privacy
The service is not directed at children and does not ask users to create an account or provide a name, email address, or date of birth. A parent or guardian should supervise a child's use and choose a low, comfortable listening level.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of any significant changes by posting a notice on our site.
